Coraline is a delightfully creepy animated film à la The Nightmare Before Christmas featuring a young girl who stumbles upon an alternate mirrored universe and risks becoming trapped “on the other side” forever.

The winner of the 2009 Newbery Award for children’s literature was announced today. 
The winjner is “The Graveyard Book” by Neil Gaiman.

We have the book in the Redwood Library, and I read it last month.  It’s a fantasy ghost story that I highly recommend.

I have always wanted to create my own library web site, and I finally I have learned how.  I have been working at it at home, and it will soon be made public with a link from the
Redwood Middle School site. 

I made this poster as part of my Library Technology class that I am currently taking at CSULB.  I choose to make my poster about Banned Books Week because it celebrates the freedom to choose.  It stresses the importance of our First Amendment right.  It draws attention to the danger that exists when restraints are imposed on the availability of information in a free society.

• All library books are due on or before June 3^rd, and must be returned (or paid for if lost) by that date.  Textbooks must be returned by the date given by the teacher, which will be no later than June 10.  If not, you will be responsible for the replacement cost.  The average textbook cost is $60.  If you pay for a book that is later found, you will receive a refund. 
• Sixth and seventh grade students who plan to attend Redwood next year may check out an unlimited number of library books over the summer once all books (including textbooks) have been returned.
• Students who do not return materials or pay for lost or damaged materials will not receive their yearbook on June 11.  Eighth grade students with outstanding materials or fines will not be able to participate in the Magic Mountain trip as well.
• Books found on campus are brought to the library.  Please check in the library for books lost this school year.  At the end of the school year those remaining will be donated.
